Hotel Drover Engagement Session, Fort Worth Stockyards

Some engagement sessions are about the couple settling into the camera, and Sarah + Jake’s Hotel Drover session in the Fort Worth Stockyards was exactly that. A perfect test run before their wedding next year, and honestly, a good evening with good company.

The day itself was a little hazy, that soft, diffused kind of light that makes everything feel a tad dreamier than usual. Hotel Drover was buzzing when we arrived, but we found our groove, ducking into the lush greenery scattered throughout the property. There’s no shortage of gorgeous corners there. Every direction offered another backdrop, another reason to stop and take it in. I can’t wait to be back in the spring to capture more of its hidden gems.

From the hotel, we wandered a few blocks to a park nearby and leaned all the way into the “Texas” feel of it. Sarah in her red boots, Jake right next to her. The thing about a good engagement session in a place like the Stockyards: it’s not just about pretty scenery, it’s about getting comfortable being looked at and being celebrated, before the big day.

We wrapped things up back at the Hotel Drover bar, playing with flash for a few final frames. Moody, a little poppy, a totally different feel from the daylight softness of the park. It felt like the right way to close out the day.
