Oh man, I have many things I could say about Melany and Will’s day but dreamy goodness just about sums it up. It was heartfelt, it was intentional, it was design forward yet so simple at the same time.
On their wedding day, it rained… For some this may be a worse nightmare but for them, it was almost kismet. After getting ready together and sharing an intimate first look, we took time to capture portraits. It was overcast which is truly the best lighting. They grabbed a coffee at the hotel coffee shop (10/10 recommend Carpenter Hotel). As we drove to Justine’s Secret House it started to rain. We sat in downtown Austin traffic listening to folk indie tunes hoping the rain would go away. The weather gods gifted us with a short rainless window to capture Melany and Will in love at Justine’s before guests arrived. We moved the ceremony indoors as the rain decided to linger. Although not what was planned, it truly ended up being the sweetest most intimate ceremony. Set inside the iconic red walls of Justine’s, M+W said their “I do’s” as guests stood gathered around. The closeness of everyone made the ceremony even more special. There’s an intensity brought by closeness and it makes everything feel amplified: the vows, the shaky exhales, the tears welling up in the corners of eyes trying so hard not to cry. You could feel every word. Every promise. Every breath. Every cheer as they said “I do.”
The rest of the evening unfolded in that same effortless way. Candlelight flickered, glasses clinked, laughter echoed through the patio of Justine’s. It felt like a dinner party thrown by the most in-love couple you know. Intimate, design-forward, but never performative. A true reflection of Melany and Will: stylish, grounded, deeply connected.
If you ask me, rain on a wedding day doesn’t ruin anything. It softens it. It slows it down. It invites everyone inward. And for M+W, it felt exactly right.
Dreamy goodness, indeed.
